Goddess of the Underworld

Unwilling, unable at first to escape, she wandered the soot-darkened corridors and traced the pattern of flames on the walls. Whenever she slept her dreams too were laced with fire and shadow...

...until one awakening brought hope, her body wrapped in the soft lights of the world above, her eyes gleaming, her feet padding steadily across stone and sand until she reached a door she had never seen before. It opened to her touch, leading to a lightless, colorless stair...

...fearless, she took the first step into the realm of the truly dead, the forgotten ones, in her quest for freedom.



*grins* This one is dedicated to the highly entertaining ~InvisableGlitter, who mentioned Persephone. This particular Goddess, while inspired by that, is not Persephone herself... simply a dreamer, finding power within the Underworld but choosing to return to Above.
